The adoption of social media by businesses is a recent research topic therefore are not many studies. This paper explores the importance of social media in business communication and the influence of social media on businesses. Research Question The central research question explored in this paper is the following - How does social media play an important role in business communication? Background of the problem A company's name and reputation can be harmed with a negative comment. Negative feedback mostly spreads faster than positive feedback/review which results in a losing customers, brand image and might also cause low market share. Problem Statement An organization's name and reputation can be negatively impacted by negative feedback or reviews which spread through social media. If the organization does not effectively observe consumer reactions/behavior, negative feedback or also misinformation can spread across social media channels which can severely impact the organization and its brand image which can result in loss of customers and also loss of market share.
