The sample that I expect to use for my research project is a sample of first year university students, age 18 and up. The sampling technique I propose to use is a form on nonprobability sampling called convenience sampling. According to Cozy & Bates (2024), convenience sampling, otherwise called haphazard sampling is a form of sampling where you get participants from the population wherever you can. Unlike probability sampling where each member of the population has an equal chance of being selected for the study, convenience sampling relies on opportunity. This means that the sample consist of those who are available and agree to participate in the study, such as respondents to a recruitment ad. For this project, I propose using college message boards and communication systems, as well as recruitment postings on social media to recruit first year university students to participate in the study. A flyer with a brief description of the study can be sent out to prospective participants via the communication means explained above, and the sample will be those students who meet the participation criteria and responded to be included in the study
