The specification for the yield strength of rebar required a mean of 3.8 [ksi]. It is essential that the population of rebar to be used in the construction of a reinforced concrete shear wall has the required mean strength. The engineer ordered that a sample of 25 randomly selected rebar be selected and tested from the rebar delivered to the construction site by the supplier. The sample mean from the 25 tests yielded a value of 3.75 [ksi]. From a multitude of past tests the standard deviation of rebar is known to be 0.30 [ksi]. Should the delivered rebar be rejected as unsuitable for the job? The engineer is only concerned that the rebar NOT have a yield strength below 3.8 [ksi]. Carry out an appropriate hypothesis tests using a level of significant & = 5%. Explicitly state your null and alternate hypotheses. Clearly state your recommendation. Report the p-value. Hint: from past studies you know that rebar strengths can well-modeled using the Normal distribution. In this problem that population standard deviation is known, so you DO NOT have to use the Student's t distribution
