The student will reflect on the specific case study about a business, company, facility, or process, existing or planned, with controversial environmental/social impacts impinging on sustainability. They should present a factual argument agreeing or disagreeing with the case study and discuss the impacts and sustainability.

Some of the areas to discuss include (but are not limited to): the overuse of land or water resources, pollution, mitigation, effects on the environment, societal effects on the community/society, and any concerns affecting the sustainability of a resource, business, and/or society.

References should include scientific studies, any environmental impact statement, and independent third-party sources. The student must include a thesis statement, discuss the background of the case, concessions, and refutations, and provide a solution or future considerations. The research paper must include core concepts from the course. The body of the case study should be 10-15 pages in APA 7 format with at least 12 peer-reviewed references.
