We will limit the study using the Hamilton's Method of Apportionment Definition of terms: Seats . the number of indivisible objects which are assigned in different states States . the parties having stake in the apportionment Population . refers to the number of Citizens or Residents in a locale Apportionment . act of dividing people among places Alexander HAMILTON's METHOD Step By Step procedure in calculating the values; STEP 1: Compute for the Standard DIVISOR (dj, where d= TOTAL POPULATION / NUMBER OF REPRESENTATIVES 281,424,177 435 646,952 STEP 2: Compute for the Standard QUOTA of each State, where Std Quota = State's Population / divisor (d) (see Table : column Standard Quota) STEP 3: Get the LOWER QUOTA of each State, which is the rounded down value of the Standard Quota. The, add all the Lower Quota (see Table : Lower Quota Column 1) STEP 4: If the sum of the LOWER QUOTA is less than the total number of representatives, the remaining number of seats are assigned to the state whose decimal value of the STANDARD QUOTA are the HIGHEST.
