The textbook discusses "voidable" contracts dealing with minors (those under the age of 18). The majority of states nationwide permit a minor to "disaffirm" (opt out) a contract with no costs or other contractual obligations (breach of contract liability). The minority of states, however, require that minors provide various degrees of restitution before they will be permitted to disaffirm the contract and avoid their obligations.
