The three reasons for appraising employee performance are: administrative decisions, employee development and feedback, and criteria for research. Administrative decisions is used for both positive and negative employee action. Negative's actions include termination and positive actions include raises and promotions. Employee development and feedback is important because employees need to receive feedback on what is expected from them on the job, as well as how they are performing on the job. Many organizations require for supervisors to perform an annual review on each of their employees. Lastly, employee performance appraisals also helps by gathering criteria for research. The data that is collected helps to develop programs that can enhance the work place. It can also help to provide data for better use of equipment, hiring, motivating employees, and training employees (Spector, 2022). All three are used hand in hand in order to provide the best and healthy work environment possible. However, I do believe that employee performance appraisals helps to conduct the data needed to show were improvement is needed in order for growth to happen with the workplace
