To recap, WCA has been operating for the last ten years now. No longer the new kid on the block, the organization has steadily become more professional during your time here. Five years ago, the company had 50 employees and now has grown to 100 staff in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto. You have been successful in your career as a People Manager practicing what you learned in your SFU MGMT 115 class many years ago. You are managing an HR Department that is based out of Vancouvera mix of recruiters, HR consultants, and payroll staff. As you take stock of your situation, you marvel at how lucky it has been to grow with a company that has really appreciated your contributions. Though there have been some ups and downs along the way, you have certainly learned a lot and grown in your career.

This week, youve got three issues on your plate that you need to address. With each prepare a one-page set of notes and draw from the relevant topics in the course. Consider drawing from outside research as applicable. Indicate how youd approach the issue and consider what youd recommend.

You were able to put a lot of structures in place to support the move and work on keeping engagement levels high and teams connected. Now as health orders are relaxing, West Coast is looking at getting most of its staff back in the office, at least part of the time. As you have informally discussed the return to more time in the office during Zoom meetings, there has been distinct pushback from employees who have become accustomed to WFH. You get a sense that this may not be an easy or smooth process. You know management is expecting you to take the lead on this what are the key issues and how will you approach the return to work initiative?
