The United States midterm elections are to take place on November 8, 2022. During this time all 435 seats in the House of representatives and 35 of the seats in the Senate will be open to be contested. I found an article titled "Kamala Harris says 'everything on the line' in midterm elections". In this article Vice President Harris warns that extremist leaders around the country have been restricting access to the ballot box and if we do not vote carefully our "age-old sanctity' of right to vote" may not be protected (Pilkington, 2022). She goes on to speak on the issues this country is facing when it comes to the rising treat of domestic extremism. This includes the January 6, 2020 riot on the capitol that was instigated by President Trump's claims that the Biden administration stole the 2020 election. Even though there was no evidence of this happening nor has it ever been proven. When it comes to the threat of domestic extremists VP Harris was quoted as saying "I think it is very dangerous and I think it is very harmful, and it makes us weaker," (Pilkington, 2022). I agree with statement. I remember watching the riot on the capitol on TV and all I could think about was how the rest of the world must view us as a whole. If we do not demonstrate respect for our country, leaders, and one another how can we expect the rest of the world to take us seriously.

Do you feel that domestic extremists have a likelihood of becoming the majority in the House of representatives and the Senate?
