The US Census is vitally important. The data collected with this tends to be very detailed. The questions required by the US Census dont leave much room for variation from the person responding to the questionnaire.
Step 1. Visit the United States Census Bureau website and access the 2017 current population survey datasets 2017 Basic Monthly CPSLink site(https://www.census.gov/data/datasets/2017/demo/cps/cps-basic-2017.html)..
Open the Data DictionaryLink(https://www2.census.gov/programs-surveys/cps/datasets/2017/basic/January_2017_Record_Layout.txt) ., which will display the questions that are on the survey along with how many spaces are allotted for the responses.
Download the DOS/Windows for DecemberLink(https://www2.census.gov/programs-surveys/cps/datasets/2017/basic/dec17pub.zip). zip file and extract the files. These files will open in WordPad. You will see the data is listed per respondent. The data dictionary will pinpoint where the data you are interested in is located.
Step 2. Open Python, then the Quest file from where you saved it. You are focused on the HEFAMINC (Family Income) data set. Run the module with the data set. Remember to set the variables with the constants per the comments/memo section, which you were asked to read (Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Grain).
Step 3. Prepare a 2-3-page memo in which you address the following:
Executive Summary
How Quest may be used in general with US census data
