I interpret the saying that one must manage the employee's perception and the reality as managers need to create a workplace environment that leads to employees perceiving their workplace as collaborative and positive. Open communication, embracing diversity, collaboration, and empathy are some elements that would allow employees to perceive the workplace as a healthy and welcoming environment, making this a reality in the workplace.
