With social media and everything being readily available through electronic devices, it would be presumed that the workers have not motivation to complete tasks because they would rather be on a cellphone or surfing the web. Management would have to be more hypervigilant to ensure work is being completed. "Theory Y" managers may be more relaxed regarding personal electronic devices in the workplace due to having a trust-based relationship that believes that workers are motivated to work and enjoy taking ownership. These managers may look at the personal devices as not being a distraction if the work is being completed
