There are a couple different problems with the globalization of food. One of the biggest I believe is that you lose traditional practices from each culture. This would lead to lack of diversity and loss of many food cultures. This would affect economies, tourism in many countries. The environment as well is another factor, some countries environment is made for the food that is made in that particular area. Food would then have to travel long distances which would increase the risk for contaminated food in travel and potential foodborne outbreaks. This again is expensive to travel which will raise costs of food around the world. An outside factor small companies would not exist anymore, small vendors, restaurants, and larger multiglobal companies would form and lead to inequalities, monopolies which again would hurt the small vendor. This will also cause exploitation of resources where a particular type of food might be abundant, this can also lead to cheap labor, unsafe working conditions and unethical practices by larger companies. There is also bad trade practices that may occur which could also drive famers and business owners out of work. From a human health aspect this could be good and bad. Good in the fact that exposure to different foods from other areas can result in a more balanced diet. However processed foods could also rise which as well could lead to obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Distribution could also be a factor. Who gets food first? If you're a poor country, will you get food in a timely manner even though you may not be able to afford it? These are good questions that would certainly fall into the distro phase. Food culture, Food safety, quality control the environment are the big factor here when it comes to globalized food production
