There are ethical challenges in every aspect of the criminal justice system. Administrators are responsible for setting the tone for ethical conduct in the administration and operation of their agency.

You are to assume the role of the head (Chief, Director, Warden, etc.) of a fictitious criminal justice agency; e.g., police department or sheriff's office, local detention center (adult or juvenile) prosecutors' office, trial court, probation agency, correctional institution, parole board, parole agency, etc.

As the head administrator, youdecide it is in the best interest of your agency to have a policy that sets forth how the agency will operate in an ethical manner.... similar to a Code of Ethical Conduct

In your paper you are to describe in detail your plan to insure ethical practices in your selected agency.

• Howwill your ethical policy be established? (Whowill beinvolved in drafting the document? What resources will be drawn on or references? etc.)
• Howwill it becommunicated to the members of the agency to ensure awareness and adoption?
• How will it be inspected to ensure compliance?
• Howwill it be reinforced so that members of the agency clearly understand your seriousness?

Discuss at least three things that complicated the investigation component of this case. Be specific using facts from the case itself. How were these complications minimized or overcome?

Discuss two investigative lessons learned from this case and how they have helped the role of a criminal investigator and police departments in their entirety.

Discuss two data bases that were used, or could have been used, during the investigation to garner information about the suspect and or the evidence collected in the case. Be sure to give specific case information to support your thoughts.

Discuss what critical items of evidence played a role in the investigation and discuss if the seizure of these items would require a search and seizure warrant or if they fall under a warrantless exception. If they fall under an exception, describe why and support your argument with court precedent.
