There are hundreds of studies that demonstrate the effects of priming on human behavior. In one of the rst applications, Bargh, Chen, and Burrows (1996) conducted a priming study in which participants rst read words that were either unrelated or related to the elderly, and then were told to walk out of the laboratory after doing so. The researchers reported that reading words related to elderliness (e.g., "Florida", "Bingo") caused subjects to walk slower when exiting the laboratory, compared to subjects who read words unrelated to the elderly. In a re-te st of the study, a group of researchers identies 10 participants and asks them to read words related to the elderly on a computer screen, before measuring how quickly they walk away after completing the reading task. The researchers also identify a second group of 15 participants who are asked to read words that are unrelated to the elderly, and then their speed walking away from the experiment is measured after they complete the reading task. The walking speed of each participant in the study was rated from 1-8, where higher scores indicate a faster speed. M=3 M=5.5 SS=65 SS=80 \fCalculate Cohen's d for the context of this study
