There are several kinds of teams in a workplace, including management committees that integrate activities across functional groups, work groups that produce goods and provide services, advisory councils that make recommendations, and project teams that perform tasks. Team dynamics impact the success of all groups. Employee motivation is essential and a main contributor not only to the success of a team but also to the organization. Motivation is a key force for one or many to engage ingoal-directed behavior. For a team to be successful, it is important that there is a commitment by all members. Without it, that team could be set up to fail.

Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) can be positive, including efforts to advance the organization's work. Examples are helping others, sportsmanship, loyalty, and civic virtue. Positive team behavior, work satisfaction, and performance all go together to benefit the individual, the team, and the organization. In contrast, counterproductive work behavior (CWB) is harmful to the organization and its members.
