There are two inlet streams at mass flow rate w1 and w2 in the liquid storage insert shown in the adjacent figure, and output stream at flow rate w3. The cylindrical tank is 2.5m long and 2m in diameter. The density of the liquid is 800kg/m3. The normal operating procedure is to fill the tank until the liquid level reaches the nominal value of 1.75m at constant flow rates w1=120kg/min,w2=100 kg/min and w3=200kg/min. At this point, the inlet flow rate is adjusted to stabilize the level. But, unique to that day, corrosion in the tank caused a hole at the 1m high point. This hole causes a leakage from the tank with a volumetric flow rate of q4(m3/min) and expressed by the following relation. qq4=0.025h1 Here, 'h' denotes height in metres. a) If the tank is initially empty, how long does it take for the liquid level to reach the leak point? b) If the mass flow rates w1,w2 and w 3 are kept constant, will the tank eventually overflow? State your reasons. q4=0.025h1
