Question
There are two simple parts of this Assignment-1 in which you exercise your practical skills as well as theoretical, discussion skills related to Software Modeling.
There are two simple parts of this Assignment-1 in which you exercise your practical skills as well as theoretical, discussion skills related to Software Modeling. Each worth 5 points.
Part A (5 points):
---------------------- You must download and play with our preferred modeling tool - the StarUML. Now, please revisit Chapter-2 in which we have reviewed all 14 UML diagrams. Select one Structural diagram and one Behavioral diagram from the suite of UML diagrams (It can be the ones you have selected in the discussion question - but here it is important to select two different types of diagrams). Draw each of these diagrams in StarUML - but from a different domain. That means, you should not use the Hospital domain which I am using in the book as example. You can select any other domain such as Airline, College or Sports - or, perhaps, even your Team Project domain, if you have already started with your project work (I hope you have).
Once you have drawn your diagram in StarUML, please submit it in the link provided for Assignment-1. You are welcome to create a PDF or JPEG and copy-paste the diagram in Canvas. Finally, it is very important that you briefly describe (3 to 5 sentences) each of the two diagrams you have drawn.
Part B (5 points):
----------------------
In Week-1, Chapter-1, we studied the Software Engineering Fundamentals:
- Classification (Grouping),
- Abstraction (Representing),
- Inheritance (Generalizing),
- Encapsulation (Modularizing),
- Association (Relating) and
- Polymorphism (Executing).
Understanding and applying these fundamentals is crucial to great Program Design. Please describe ANY TWO out of the above 6 fundamentals in answering this question. It is important that you write IN YOUR OWN WORDS what you understand by the fundamentals you have selected. Your answer must include practical examples (you are welcome to demonstrate your understanding by drawing a UML diagram and/or writing a small piece of pseudo-code / real code based on your knowledge from previous courses). I am expecting each of the fundamentals to be described in about half-page to a Page.
