For our scenario, let us discuss two of those types Charismatic and Level 5 Leadership styles Traits of Charismatic Leadership: Charismatic leadership engrosses a sense of confidence, approach and elegance. The qualities of Charismatic leaders are tough to be narrowed down. However, they attract the followers and be the inspirations for people to action them. Highly Charismatic leaders are often referred as Transformational leaders as they are capable of sustaining significant changes in the organization. Some of the key features of charismatic leadership are, Extraordinary Communication skills both one on one and team meetings Sense of Maturity sense of wisdom and knowledge Humbleness Respect the value of each employee Empathetic Being concerned about things through integrity Materialistic Charismatic leaders walk the talk that has substance Confidence They are comfortable to be on their own Optimistic body language Being warm & open with a great eye contact when they speak. Great Listeners They dont get distracted and act with empathy. Self Monitoring They watch themselves. Portrays good image for themselves. Self Improvement Seeks and works on feedback Traits of Level 5 Leadership: Great Leaders possess specific combination of skills. However, they also have certain different characteristics that are difficult to define and contemplate. Jim Collins, a Business Consultant developed the concept of Level 5 leadership. He coined that 11 out of 1400+ companies had Level 5 Leadership in them. These leaders had feature of humility in them where they dont showcase success for their own credit. Rather it is given to the team and the organization. They say success is because of the team and accept the blame for themselves. Such leaders are frequently shy, however courageous when it comes to decision making decisions. Level 1: Individualistic Capability At this level, the leader makes very high quality contributions with the work that is being delivered. Knowledge, Skill and attitude appear to be at its peak. Level 2: Team Player At this level, leader contributes their Knowledge and Skills to help the team succeed. The leader is highly effective, proactive and productive with others in the group. Level 3: High Competent player At this level, leader is able to host a group to achieve targeted objectives. Level 4: Being an Effective Leader Top leaders fall in to this category where they stimulate a department to meet its objectives and vision. Level 5: Being a Great Leader The leader possesses all abilities and a very unique feature of humility required for moving from good to being great. Skills & Characteristics of becoming a Level 5 Leader are developing humility, seeking for help, taking ownership and responsibility, cultivating a sense of discipline, identifying the right people and being passionate about the vision.
