Problem 4 (25%) A process stream of liquid water at pressure Pa = 200 bar and temperature T, = 50C with a mass flow rate F = 10 kg is fed to a process unit through an inlet pipe of internal diameter D2 = 5 in. The process stream is heated and expanded in a valve in the unit. The stream exits the unit as vapor, at pressure P2 = 5 bar and temperature Tx = 250 C. The exit pipe has an internal diameter D2 = 30 in. The process is at steady-state, no work is done in the process unit and the difference in height between inlet and exit is negligible. - F P, T,D F P, T2, D2 Question 1. Calculate the velocity of the fluid in the inlet and exit pipes. Question 2. Calculate the rate of heat transferred to the fluid in the process unit (ie the heat power transferred to the fluid). Note: 1 in = 2.54 cm Note: the Steam Tables can be used for the calculations
