How has your analysis of Define and Measure informed your ability to analyze?
The "Define" steps helps to create the purpose for the whole problem-solving process, this is done by defining what the actual problem is. "Measure" will then help create the metrics that allows components to be measurable. Define helps figure out what the the actual problem is, and then, when Measure figures out the quantifiable components, "Analyze" can take them both into consideration to help find the root cause. Using Define and Measure from DMAIC find the main issues creating the problem.
In what ways do you feel you need additional information to analyze appropriately?
I think it would be beneficial to find out more about onboarding for employees and training.Also, maybe some of their previous experience in the real world or educational. Is someone like Sinclair in the position just because of relationships, or is there more experience there. I would get feedback from employees, get a feel about what they think of management and what could improve or what is going well.
What is essential about clarity of expectations in an organization, and what happens if that clarity of expectations is not present?
Clarifying expectations for employees on all levels is very important. If there are no expectations, then how will employees know what they are required to do in their positions, and what goals/metrics they are expected to meet. Without expectations, employees do not have a goal to strive for, or responsibilities they know they are expected to take care of and meet. Lack of expectations can create a lot of confusion and emotional and financial back lash. Setting expectations can also help improve productivity.
What are "Five Whys" that you would recommend asking your organization's stakeholders (or to the stakeholders of the Garden Depot) to determine some solutions to the conflict? ( I definitely have more than 5)
- What are customer complaints about?
- Why are they making these complaints?
- How are we documenting their complaints?
- Who is in charge of reviewing the complaints?
- Who is responsible for helping to resolve the complaints?
