As a former employee of a luxury retailer, I noticed that the organizational culture was developed to reflect professionalism, customer satisfaction, and high values. It is possible to argue that this culture made the organization more effective. The luxury retail store's culture can be described as customer-focused and detail-oriented. The strict dress code for employees serves as an "artifact," a physical representation of deeper "values" and "assumptions" about how appearance impacts customer perception and the brand ("Organizational behavior," 2017). Uniforms, shoe restrictions, and a specific hairstyle similar to a ballerina's bun were required. The artifact proves that attention to detail in presentation reflects positively on the brand and promotes luxury shopping.

Further, salespeople had individual clients who could provide beverages, snacks, personalized delivery, and alterations. This level of service aligns with the textbook's idea that a culture focused on customer service can be more effective.

Overall, I think the organizational culture at the luxury retail store I worked at was excellent and positively impacted employee behavior.
