THIS AND THE NEXT TWO QUESTIONS REFER TO THE INFORMATION BELOW. Professional typists are able to write exceptionally fast on a keyboard, usually to the order of 70-80 words per minute. A statistician with nothing better to do wants to analyze whether modern ergonomic keyboards are better suited to fast typing than old-fashioned typewriters. The working hypothesis of the statistician is that the average typist would be slower on an old-fashioned typewriter than on an ergonomic keyboard. Two groups of 150 typists were recruited. The first one typed on typewriters, resulting in an average speed of 69 words per minute. The second group typed on ergonomic keyboards, with an average speed of 73 words per minute. Assume that the population standard deviations are 3 words per minute for both groups. In the blank space below, provide an answer to each of the following items: 1. Define (identify the populations in the problem above. 2. Define (identify) the quantity you need to estimate to perform the statistician's analysis. A B. 1 REFER TO THE INFORMATION PROVIDED ABOVE. a. Determine the point estimate of the difference in mean typing speeds of typists typing on typewriters and typists typing on ergonomie wyboards The point estimate is (Provide an Integer value.) b. Compute a 90% confidence interval for the difference in mean typing speeds of typists typing on typewriters and typists typing on ergonomia keyboards. The 90% confidence interval has a lower bound of and an upper bound of (Round to two decimal places) menhallintahlas and the online calculator below: Marked out of 12.00 P Flag question REFER TO THE INFORMATION PROVIDED ABOVE. In the blank space below, provide answers to each of the following items: 1. Interpret the confidence interval you computed above. 2. Is the data evidence provided by the confidence interval consistent with the working hypothesis of the statistician? Explain. 3. Can we say with certainty that typists typing on ergonomic keyboards are on average faster than typists typing on old-fashioned typewriters? A B. 1 DE E
