- Review the NAEYC Standards and key elements and assess your growth in several areas. This assignment is designed to support your growth in specific NAEYC standards and key elements. Here is a summary of the standards to use for reference.
The Week 8 SELP is focused on
- Standard 1 - key elements 1a, 1b, 1a
- Standard 2 - key elements 2a, 2b, and 2c
- Standard 4 - key element 4a, 4b, 4d
Choose the three (3) key elements that have the most meaning for you or in which you felt the most growth.For each key element,
- briefly discuss the importance of the key element in supporting children's social and emotional growth,
- briefly describe how you feel you have grown in competence in the key element through this course.
- Review the California Early Childhood Educator Competencies. Please refer to the Introduction to understand how the competency areas are broken down and organized.
The Week 8 SELP focuses on two competency areas:
- Family and Community Engagement
- Relationships, Interactions and Guidance
Out of both of these Competency Areas, choose ONE topic area you are most interested in. Identify which competency context you are working within and discuss your growth, and your hoped for future growth in that competency.
