This is a very interesting topic, I am lost for words at the moment; I am struggling on how to answer it without causing any conflict of interest. Freight transportation nowadays uses mostly burning fuel such as gas or diesel. In the process of operating those vehicles, CO2 is produced and emitted into the atmosphere. Not to mention, accidents during shipments, which cause smoking fire and oil leakage, can have huge negative impacts on the environment. Additionally, noise pollution has a bad influence on the wildlife that it can change the local animal's behavior. In a Yellowstone backcountry corridor with heavy air activity, the noise level increased by up to 5 dB. This could already result in a 70% decrease in the size of an area where predators can hear their prey, despite being a modest number ( Harding et al., 2019). The negative effects can stack up depending on how frequent the shipments are made. Financially, the companies are spending a huge amount of money for technology development in order to resolve the environmental impacts. As a result, electric vehicles are becoming the trend. For example, Norway has successfully completed the inaugural voyage of the world's first all-electric, fully autonomous freight ship (Youd, 2022). This technological advancement has both improved the environment, and financial aspects since freight takes less labor to operate.

In order to ease the freight movement congestion, every means of transport must work together harmonically. For overseas shipments, freight containers must maximize their packaging ability to decrease the shipment frequencies. For inland shipments, highways are recommended for a more precise navigation and wider range of shipments.
