This is the assignment I have and I only want to know If my answer for #1 of this makes sense and is done the correct way. Not asking for any answers just needing feedback.

Survey Design:

Suppose you are working on a campaign to reduce binge drinking among first year students at MSU.

Imagine you want to first get a sense of student perceptions of drinking on campus, and you are going to

send an online survey to first year students before they arrive on campus in the fall.

1. How will you sample 500 incoming students? Assume that you have a list of contact information from the Registrar.

My Answer: I would choose Simple random sampling. I will number each student 1 to 500 by their names randomly and give them a corresponding number. I will then take a dice and roll it once and see whether I got an odd or even number. Everyone has an even chance at being selected at random So either way if I roll an odd or even number the 250 students out of 500 will be the ones selected in participating in the survey if their odd or even number was chosen that corresponds to their name.

2.

make series of survey questions (3-5) asking students about their perceptions of drinking

behavior at MSU. These questions could relate to frequency, amount of drinking, unhealthy

drinking behaviors, etc.

Be creative. Try to use the guidelines from class to craft careful questions. Note that this is harder

than it seems! A question that is not carefully written can easily be misunderstood, which can lead

to problems in interpreting the results.
