This journal entry must reflect a compilation of your thoughts and experiences from the previous weeks lesson as they apply in the global context. Present your insights and take-aways from what you observed and learned through Chapters 3 & 4, and the video "Starbucks SWOT Analysis." You're expected to share 1) what principles or topics you found interesting from the weeks readings and assignments - explaining why you found them interesting; 2) what you learned from it - describing what has changed in your thinking as a result of the learning process on that topic/issue; and, 3) your conclusions on how those principles or topics could apply within the global marketplace (around the world) - specifying how you would use what you learned in marketing to a hospitality, travel or tourism audience outside of the United States. Make it a point to emphasize what differences might be taken into account relative to those other demographics, cultures, regulatory environments and/or social contexts that exist in a foreign country/region. You're also invited to present any other pertinent information you would like to include. Your journal entry must be submitted via Canvas and is due prior to SUNDAY, 20 January at 11:59 pm.

All journal entries must include these three headings with your supporting information outlined above:

  1. What I found interesting
  2. What I learned
  3. How I would apply it in the Global Marketplace

Note: spelling, grammar, and syntax will be a component of grading. If you need help with checking these, please consult a friend or the writing center (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. A deduction of 5 points will be made for mistakes in these.

Teachers comments:

Elizabeth - Be sure to read the instructions carefully before you begin preparing your posting for the assignment. There are supposed to be headings for each section of the submission, and those continue to be missing - even after this was pointed out in the first journal posting you prepared. In fact, it looks like you've not integrated any of the points of feedback provided to you after your first posting. In the first part, you haven't identified what you found interesting and why. In the second part, you haven't described how your thinking has changed as a result of recognizing the importance of brand awareness. In the third part, there appears to be nothing that addresses any of the points specified. The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate what you are absorbing from the material and to serve as a mechanism for you to reflect on what the learning experience has done to shape your thinking. This is important to helping you in making future business decisions. Delve into this process with more thoughtful and critical thinking, and you'll get a great deal more out of the course. If you need further explanation on how to approach this assignment, just let me know.
