This set of instructions will help your design of your Personal Leadership Reflection. Your Personal Leadership Reflection will be due during week 14 (module 14) of the course. It will be a maximum of 5 pages in length for the body of the paper or 5 minutes in length for a video. Your personal reflection will include supporting materials from your text and outside sources cited in-text in APA 7th edition format. The rubric for your submission will include 10 marks for in-text citations and references. The assignment will be worth a total of 60 marks. Components: A Personal Leadership Reflection provides a valuable opportunity to reconsider those items that you assessed earlier in the course (your personal leadership assessment): your leadership journey, your values, beliefs, and ideals, your leadership and character strengths, your education, training and gifts, your experiences and opportunities, and any outside assessments provided by others or by survey instruments. All of these varied components contributed to your general understanding of your Personal Leadership Assessment. Now in your Personal Leadership Reflection you will examine these varied components again with the purpose of creating a personal leadership development plan. In essence, you will build your plan to develop as a leader from the assessment and your studies throughout this course. Your reflection and plan will address the following components. A Your Leadership Personality (10 marks - 3%) Review your MBTI personality assessment and consider how that has impacted you during Ametros simulation, this course, and the OPM program. Also, project how your personality will influence you as you transition to the workplace. Answer the following questions: How can your personality strengths be applied in the workplace? How can your personality weaknesses be applied in the workplace? How could your personality be an opportunity to others in an organization? How could your personality be a threat to others in an organization? B - Your Leadership Future (from your history) (10 marks - 3%) In your earlier Personal Leadership Assessment, you looked at two areas of your leadership experience, those who led you and those you led. You will again address these two items in your Personal Leadership Reflection. First, in your Personal Leadership Reflection you will consider those who had a significant effect on your life (those who led you). In light of the topics you have studied in this course you will analyze characteristics of these leaders that you would consider worthy of building into your leadership development plan going forward. You may ask yourself, What was it about that person that had such a positive influence on my life? How could I build that into my life and leadership? What would that look like? Second, in your Personal Leadership Reflection you will look at your own life and examine how you have influenced and led others (family, friends, employees, and others). You have already assessed this in your week 7 (module 7) Personal Leadership Assessment. In light of what you have found analyze and determine which leadership behaviours, characteristics, and behaviours were successful. Ask yourself, What is it about that action, behaviour, or attitude that was so effective? How could I build that into my future leadership career? What would that look like? C - Your Leadership Philosophy: (10 marks - 3%) In your Personal Leadership Assessment (module 7), you analyzed the principles, beliefs, values, ideals, norms, and standards that you consider important and essential to you as a leader. These items determine who you are as a leader and as a person. They summarize the character you have as a leader. Evaluate these items and build them into your Personal Leadership Reflection (plan). Ask yourself, What values and beliefs are essential to me as a leader? What standards and norms are non-negotiable to me as a leader? How will they affect my leadership and what would that look like? D - Your Leadership Strengths: (10 marks - 3%) Throughout this course you have studied various characteristics, behaviours, and attitudes of leaders. You have looked at them in terms of leaders-followers-situations. In week seven (module 7) you reviewed your past and present context and those areas of strength that you feel you have exhibited as you worked with others. Now in your Personal Leadership Reflection you will discuss and evaluate these strengths in terms of your future leadership plan. Ask yourself, How will I use these strengths and in what situations will they be more effective? What would be my default strengths and how can I build on these? E - Your Leadership Training and Feedback: (10 marks - 3%) In your Personal Leadership Assessment, you discussed any feedback, informal and formal, that you received as a leader. You looked at whether it was positive feedback and if you received help with areas that needed improvement? You discussed the training and experiences you had as a leader and how you progressed in those experiences? Now in your Personal Leadership Reflection appraise and discuss this training and feedback in terms of your future development as a leader. In short, build your results into your leadership development plan. Ask yourself, What did my training and feedback reveal? Did I grow through those experiences? How can I use this training and feedback in my leadership career going forward?
