Case Mr. Worker has been an employee of the Regional Hospital for the last five years. He recently terminated his employment. The reason for termination was due to: inability to follow instructions. However, Regional Hospital has adopted an "employment at will" policy. So you do not have to provide any reason for the termination. However, Mr. Worker was very angry at his termination... so upset that he went to the media with his story.

Answer the initial question using these three scenarios. Identify each of them in an orderly manner. Scenario 1 You work for the Human Resources Department at the Regional Hospital. The hospital's attorney is preparing for the press conference regarding Mr. Worker's termination. In an effort to assist the attorney he drafts a document with a list of reasons justifying the termination of "employment at will" for the hospital. What are your reasons for supporting this policy? His job is to convince the public that this is a necessary and useful policy. Scenario 2 Now you work for an advocacy group that has decided to help Mr. Worker. He has a press conference in response to the Regional Hospital press conference. What defects do you find in the hospital's position? Why is "employment at will" not appropriate for the medical practice/industry? Read the contributions of your colleagues and select the contribution that interests you most about the hospital. Scenario 3 Now that I select, read the charges presented by the class. Which position seems most logical to you? The medical industry or practice should stick to an "employee at will" industry.
