This week, you will be creating a resume based upon one of your Holland Code careers which is Homeland Security. If you would like to search for specific job descriptions to help build your resume, start your search by using the Best Job Search Websites.

1. First you will need to select the type of template you will need for your career in order to build your resume. Review theResumes, Cover Letters and Job Applicationsresource for templates. You can also review the additionalonline supplemental resourceson resume building for further reference.
2. Second, you will fill in your template with details and action verbs to help define your skills and experience.

Make sure your resume has the following items:

• Provide an objective statement (1-2 sentences) as a part of your resume!
• Name and email address. You do not need to put in your realphysical address or phone number for this submission.
• Education, including any degrees/certificates at specified institutions, majors, and dates.
• Experience (both occupational AND/OR academically). You will want to include employment with detailed job descriptions. If you do not have any employment to report, think of organizations/clubs you may be a part of and share detailed information. Experience is applicable in all situations!
• Organization, Font, and Length need to be appropriately determined. Standard is usually 12pt, one-two pages, with the important items highlighted.
• Ensure you utilize the most appropriate resume format (e.g., chronological, functional, or combined) for what you are trying to convey.
• Avoid grammatical errors!
