This week, you will your final project, which is due on Day 7 of Week 7. For your final project, you will independently analyze data and present your research findings in the form of a PowerPoint presentation.Your final projectwill mirror the SPSS Workshop activity very closely. As before, you will be provided with an SPSS dataset and PowerPointtemplate (attached). Read through the introductory slides very closely. They are similar to the SPSS Workshop activity in that you will be analyzing group differences in life satisfaction. However, instead of analyzing between-gender differences, you will explore differences between political parties.

**To clarify, for the final project, you will do the exact same thing you did for the SPSS Workshop, except that your independent variable will be political party (Republican vs. Democrat) instead of gender. Do not attempt this assignment until you have completed the SPSS workshop and fully understand it.**

To earn full credit for the assignment, your presentation must include the following:

  • Provide a meaningful and properly formatted title page, along with properly stated null and alternate hypotheses. (20%)
  • Provide accurate data for participant and measure descriptions, as correctly identify and justify the analytic technique.(20%)
  • Provide and correctly interpret figures and descriptive statistics for the full sample and across groups.(20%)
  • Test assumptions and correctly calculate and interpret a formal test of the differences between the means and the effect size of the difference.(20%)
  • Correctly summarize results, interpret findings in light of theory and prior literature, and provide implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research. (20%)

A detailed grading rubric is provided below.

Hint:Effect size (e.g., Cohen'sd) is interpreted as an absolute value. When interpreting Cohen'sd, just focus on the size of the effect, not whether the effect size is positive or negative. An effect size of -.50, for example, is just as "large" as an effect size of .50.
