This week's discussion was a bit of a turn from other posts we have had throughout this evolution of Physics. But I did pick a Perpetual Motion Machine. But I will talk about that in the next segment of my post. I would like to talk about the Royal Academy of Science first. The Academy had likely used this statement because perpetual motion machines had violated the laws of thermodynamics. Perpetual motion machines claim to produce work indefinitely without the use of any external energy source, which would contradict the first and second laws of thermodynamics. The first law states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another. The second law states that the entropy of a closed system tends to increase over time, meaning that the energy would become less available for doing work. Perpetual motion machine has been the subject of fascination for many inventors throughout history but they have all ultimately failed to deliver on their promises because the attempts to bypass the fundamental laws. The Scientific communities generally consider perpetual motion proposals not worthy of any serious consideration. The Academy decided that they would stop accepting proposals to avoid wasting time and resources on ideas that have been repeatedly debunked over and over again. ask a question that provokes thinking critically
