Three members of a street gang, La Sierra BrownNights, went looking for members of a rival gang,Tiny Winos, intending to confront the othergang over harassment by that gang. They foundseven members of Tiny Winos, and asked them,"Where you from?", which in gang custom is achallenge to the other gang. Fistfights immediately broke out, and several Tiny Winos' "double-teamed" the La Sierra members. At one pointone of the La Sierra members believed a TinyWino had pulled a gun, so he pulled his gun andshot the Tiny Winos member, who died.The LaSierra members were charged with murder.
