Tim is home with some of the kids, Mike (4 yrs old), Maggie (6 yrs old), and Brigid, (9 yrs old), giving his lovely wife a much-deserved Girl's Weekend away from home.

Tim wants to be a fun Dad, so he starts the weekend off by having the kids do the "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" and he videotapes it to put on Facebook. However, instead of ice-cold water, Tim puts his chewing tobacco spit that he has accumulated over a period of time into the bucket. He then has the kids unknowingly dump the bucket of spit on themselves and capture the moment on video. The kids are unharmed but do become upset with Tim. Tim then has the kids clean up after the incident. (What crime occurred?)

Tim makes breakfast for the kids. During breakfast, Tim has to take some OxyContin, a strong Schedule 3 prescription drug, for a root canal Tim had earlier in the week. He leaves the open pill vial on the kitchen counter. The, after breakfast, Tim takes the kids to the backyard to play.

Out back, Tim and the kids practice archery for a period of time. All the kids take turn shooting arrows at a hay bale set up in the yard. After a period of time, Tim takes Mike into the house to lay him down for a nap. He remains inside the house for over 20 minutes. While Tim is inside the house, Maggie and Brigid continue to shoot arrows at the hay bale. After a period of time, Tim comes back out and he witnesses Brigid shooting some arrows at her sister. Tim gets upset with Brigid and he swats Brigid on her bottom three to four times. This results in a small bruise to her bottom. Tim, in an effort at discipline, then has Maggie shoot arrows at Brigid, asking her, "How do you like it?!" Though she comes close, Maggie does not hit Brigid with any arrows. (What crime has occurred toward Brigid and Maggie?)

While Tim and his girls are in the backyard, Mike wakes from his nap. He comes downstairs and into the kitchen. There he finds the open bottle of OxyContin and ingests some of the pills. As a result, Mike overdoses on the pills.

Mr. Smith, the neighbor, is watching Tim's girls shooting arrows at each other. Mr. Smith is concerned about Tim's parenting so he calls the police. When the police show up, they ask Tim for identification. Tim goes into house with the police to get his license and they find Mike passed out on the kitchen floor. He is rushed to the hospital. Doctors are able to pump Mike's stomach and he suffers only minor injuries. (What crime occurred toward Mike?)

What if any crime did Tim commit against Mike? Maggie? Brigid? What defense if any does Tim have as to any of these charges?
