To complete this discussion post, complete both Part A and Part B as follows: Part A: Do some research and find an article related to how companies use big data. Be sure to use a hospitality or tourism related example. Once you have found your article, click the "Reply" button below and do the following: Option 1: Summarize your article IN YOUR OWN WORDS Post a link to your article OR Option 2: Reflect on your own experience as a consumer and your interactions with various companies. When you are ready to make your post, click the "Reply" button below and provide the following information: Describe an instance when you, as a consumer, provided information to a company. Be sure to include as many details as possible such as: Name of the company What were the circumstances under which you provided information to the company (ie. a survey, a purchase, etc.) What type of information did you provide Did you see evidence afterwards of how your informaiton was used? (ie. starting receiving emails from the company, starting seeing more targeted ads in your social media about the company/product, etc.) **Please note that you only need to do Option 1 or Option 2...you do not need to complete both in order to complete Part A. Part B: After you have made your post from Part A, review some of the other student posts (if you are the first one to post in this thread, then check back later for other posts), and reply to another student's posting with meaningful comments that help further the conversation (ie. comment on your own experiences with the firm they identified (if applicable), comment on their examples of how companies used big data, etc.) This is a graded discussion board activity so please make sure to read the requirements and rubric (see the Discussion forum posting or the Assignments tab) for graded discussion posts before making your post.
