To obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements as a whole are free from material misstatement, the auditor must fulfill several AICPA's "Performance Principles," including:

obtaining sufficient, appropriate audit evidence.

exercising professional judgment.

providing an opinion on the financial statements.

verifying that all audit work is performed by a CPA with a minimum of three years of experience.
