To test the sales of beer and wine, each product can be placed in a table to see if there is a relationship in quantity sold per month. If the beer sales go up with wine sales, the products may be complements (or dependent of each other). If wine or beer sales decrease while the other increase, then they are supplement products. If beer sales go up and wine sales go down, they are complementary products and thus are dependent variables of each other. If beer and wine sales are independent of each other then there is no pattern in sales throughout the year. This can be tested using a contingency table, also known as a frequency table (Wolfram, n.d.). A chi-squared test is then performed from the frequency results of the table to test for dependence or independence (Hayes, 2023). Please comment on the text.
