Today I was part of a discussion on how to design a function analysis for a very complex file. Since I am only joining the team for the assessment and I do not have a rapport with the client, my role in the functional analysis is data collector. The behaviour we are measuring at a very high rate (approximately 30-40times per min). Our primary method for data collection is event recording. Looking at the decision-making tree in LeBlanc 2016, I see that the analysis chose this method as the behaviour is observable, is discrete and countable, we have enough resources and it can occur at anytime. During this meeting, the behaviour analyst informed me that is event recording is too difficult, I will be switching to partial interval recording. Using the decision making tree in the article, I am able to clearly see that the analyst made this choice as the behaviours would not be countable and we would not have access to a second person. For this reading what I found most effective is having an example that I could work thought the decision-making tree in order to understand why a certain data collection method would or would not
