Today I would like to discuss how I would handle the project that the telecommunications company "NetPulse" is assigning me to.
Task 1- "assigning IP addresses to all of the devices that will be connected and resolve these issues and ensure that all devices are properly configured with the appropriate IP addresses and network settings and ensure that the network is configured for both IPv4 and IPv6, and that both static and dynamic addressing are used as needed."
To complete the first task I would start off by getting a full inventory of all devices that will be connected to the network so I know what and how many devices I'm working with. I would then choose a network topology , given that I don't know the exact amount of devices or the company's budget I would start off with a mesh topology where every device is connected to every other device on the network. I should then develop an IP addressing plan that will allow both IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes. Allocate address ranges for different network segments, subnets, and device types, ensuring efficient utilization of available address space. Assign static IP addresses to critical devices such as servers, network infrastructure devices (routers, switches, firewalls), and printers. I would then configure DHCP servers to dynamically allocate IPv4 and IPv6 addresses to end-user devices such as desktops, laptops, smartphones, etc. and configure the correct network settings on each device
Task 2- "create a plan for ongoing monitoring and management of the network, including regular audits to ensure that all devices are in compliance with network policies and protocols"
To complete task 2 I would conduct periodic audits of the network infrastructure to assess compliance with network policies, standards, and best practices.
Task 3- As you work on this project, you discover that some devices have conflicting IP addresses and that others are not configured for IPv6. In addition, some devices are using static addressing even though they should be using dynamic addressing and vice versa. You also realize that some devices are using MAC addresses that are not registered with the network, which could pose a security risk.
Find out which devices have conflicting IP addresses and investigate the cause of the conflicts , reconfigure the IP addresses of conflicting devices to ensure uniqueness within the network and identify devices that are not configured for IPv6 and assess their compatibility with IPv6. Identify devices using unregistered MAC addresses and assess the potential security implications and Implement MAC address filtering on network switches or firewalls to restrict access to authorized devices only.
Now that I have shared my plan , is their anything you would do differently or add for a better plan?
how you explain and reply this message?
