Melissa suffered from delusions where she believed vampires snuck into her house while she slept. She crept downstairs with a knife, saw Brian walking towards the front door with her wrench in his hand, snuck up behind Brian, and stabbed him in the back. Brian spun around in shock and reflexively hit Melissa with the wrench. Both were transported to the hospital. Melissa's injuries were not life-threatening but she got food poisoning from the hospital and died. Brian was in intensive care for fourteen months and died of his injuries.
