Question Sam was browsing the intemet when he came across a website mn by Leanway Ltd, which showed that the company sells a television set at the price of HKD6,980. In accordance with the information on the site, he immediately sent an email to Leanway Ltd ordering one unit of the television set, and he provided his credit card details. About twenty minutes later, he found another website mn by Castle Ltd which was selling the same model of televlslon set for HKDI ,980_ He was excited about the attractive price and so moved to the checkout page of the website where he was asked to fill in certain details including his credit card number. He was then presented With a page setting out details of his order and asking him to click on the ' 'confirm order" icon if he wished to proceed He did so. Immediately afterwards he sent a second email to Leanway Ltd to cancel his previous order. Five minutes later he received an email from Leanway Ltd m response to his first email, confirming that his order was being processed. On the following day, Sam received an email from Castle Ltd explaining that there was an error in the price of HKD1,980 being shown on the website, and that the correct price should be HKD 7 ,980_ On the same day, he also received a Hllther email from Leanway Ltd stating that his second email had come too late and that the prcn:essmg of his order was continuing and that his credit card would be charged with HKD6 ,980 Required: Advise Sam on his legal position with Leanway Ltd and Castle Ltd.
