MY ANSWER TO QUESTION 2(A).

The wine is manufactured in Italy and one of the distribution centers near Singapore is located in Australia, which also serves as a bottling plant. A freight forwarder, DHL, is appointed by the consignor who is also the supplier, to facilitate the movement of the shipment from the manufacturing factory to the distribution center in Australia.

The freight forwarder will prepare the documents required for the insurance and custom clearance, book the cargo space, as well as, arrange the trucking service for the flexitanks provided by them to the manufacturing factory for filling and sealing of the cargo, and to the origin shipping port for loading onto the vessel.

The shipment is transported to the distribution center via sea freight as a large volume of wines can be transported in the Full-Container-Load DHL flexitank that has the capacity to hold up to 24,000 litres and fit into a standard 20ft ocean freight container, and it is cost-effective. A Bill of Lading is issued by the shipping company and has details of the consignor, the consignee, the cargo, to provide that the export cargo has been received onboard the ship.

Upon arrival at the port in Australia, trucking service is arranged to transport the shipment to the distribution center.

The distribution center bottles, packs and distributes to Singapore and other countries that are also receiving the wines. The bottles are transported in an interior container liner, which is a type of bulk packaging that uses a single bag equivalent to the internal volume of the container.

As the wine bottles, each containing 750 ml of wine, are required to be shipped to Singapore and the other countries, the shipment is placed in a 20 ft Container through Full Container Load (FCL) service offered by DHL since the shipment can fill up the whole container.

Same cycle is then repeated to transport the wine bottles from the distribution center to the destination port. Before the shipment leaves the distribution center, a quality and condition check will be performed. Once approved,a packing list is issued to state the complete physical details of the goods that are to be exported. It will have the serial numbers, dimensions of the cargo, weight, Harmonized Systems code, etc. The packing list helps in easy identification of the cargo and each package by all the parties receiving it - the carrier, the transporter, the consignee. However, upon arriving at the Destination Port, freight forwarding service will be provided by me to transport the shipment from the port to the warehouse.
