In the case of the Ford Pinto, Mr. Lee Iacocca should not have been criminally prosecuted for the deaths of Ford Pinto Drivers for several reasons. Mr. Iacocca was only one of several people that had influence on whether the Pinto issue should have been corrected. The crimes that were committed were white collar crimes, meaning they were for financial profit of the company and were non-violent crimes. His decision to not fix the Pinto's issue was unethical but not illegal. He was trying to ensure that his company could compete with other automakers. In addition, he did not make this decision alone; therefore, those individuals were also equally responsible for the Pinto's faultiness and the continued sell to consumers.
