Two of the important topics were sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Sustainability, as it relates to purchasing, considers the impact of purchasing actions not only on economic aspects but also on environmental and social ones. Corporate social responsibility as it relates to the hospitality industry - given its large footprint both in terms of employment and consumption of natural resources like food, water, and energy - has often been at the forefront of implementing practices geared to minimize the negative impacts of its business on the environment.
