Two-piece suits are processed by a dry cleaner as follows. Suits arrive with exponential interarrival times having mean 10 minutes and are initially served by server 1, perhaps after a wait in a FIFO queue (see figure). Upon completion of service at server 1, one piece of the suit (the jacket) goes to server 2, and the other piece (the pants) goes to server 3. At server 2, a jacket has probability of 0.10 of being damaged, and at server 3 a pair of pants has a probability of 0.05 of being damaged. Upon leaving server 2 and server 3, the matching suit pieces are batched back together and enter a single queue for server 4. If both parts of the suit are undamaged it passes through server 7 and is returned to the customer. If either or both of the parts are damaged, the suit first goes to an inspection process (server 5) and then goes to customer relations (server 6). The inspection time in server 5 is dependent on whether there are 1 or 2 items damaged. Suits exit the system after processing by server 6 or 7. We are to model this system using Arena Simulation software: My question is, how do you set up the create module to bring in a suit, and then later split that one entity into a pair of pants and a jacket?
