Typically, job costing is used in businesses that track costs based on projects (e.g. attorneys, accountants, doctors, contractors, etc). Process costing is used in jobs of fungible goods (e.g. oil, bottling companies, etc). Given these two explanations can you think of an example when a service company might use process costing or when a firm using process costing would use job costing?
