Uchechi is an IT specialist working in a large accounting firm in Ottawa. During the pandemic, the firm has relied heavily on its IT staff to facilitate more remote and flexible work arrangements, and to promote public health guidelines. For most of this time, Uchechi and his teammates have been coordinating this transition from the office.

In 2022, Uchechi's company starts bringing workers back to the office. Fawzia, who is one of the partners at the firm, isn't very happy about coming back to the office, and also doesn't believe in the public health guidelines. She refuses to wear a mask at the office, and also wants Uchechi to work on her computer, which is giving her problems. Uchechi is very concerned that Fawzia is not wearing a mask, and he has to work on her computer in close proximity to her. He asks her nicely if she can put her mask on, but Fawzia starts yelling and screaming at him. Security soon arrives (someone must have heard the screaming), and they take Uchechi away to the security office, which is located at the ground level of the firm (the security guards work for the firm).

Given some of the political protests in Ottawa, the security staff forget about Uchechi, and he's left in a small room that has access to a bathroom and a fridge with some water and pretzels in it for 24 hours. When he gets out he's exhausted, but also furious.
