Salespeople frequently face ethical gray areas and it hard to decide if it is ethical or not because the line is so fine between ethical and unethical. Looking over the options provided for this discussion I can see how some of these can seem unethical. The first one that caught my eyes was the overselling. Selling a customer more product or services than he/she or the company needs. This can be unethical because if you know that they don't need any more extra product or services than the initial one they bought it can seem that you are taking advantage of them and only looking out for your own pocket not caring about the customer. Another one that I can see that is unethical is overpromising. Telling the customer a product or service will be be delivered by a certain date when it is not likely that the delivery date will be met. This is unethical because if you already know that the delivery date you gave the customer won't be met and only saying that date because you know that it will most likely get your customer to buy from is unethical. Underer informing is another thing I can see as unethical; failing to convey information that might be important to a customer for fear he or she will not place the order. I believe this unethical because knowing a product or service has some defect or downside is unethical because you are afraid that if the customer knows it they will not buy anymore.
