"...understand what your customers need and how they are feeling, then respond accordingly..." "...you need to accurately express your emotions and opinions regarding the product scenarios presented..." Emotional Intelligence This activity is important because emotional intelligence is a necessary ability for you to effectively manage people and to work in teams. Emotional intelligence allows you to understand and use emotions in ways that affect social functioning, and includes four facets-self-awareness, other awareness, emotion regulation, and use of emotions. Although these abilities are typically more difficult to see than cognitive abilities, they are extremely important in a work context. The goal of this activity is to demonstrate your knowledge of emotional intelligence by matching job descriptions to the four emotional intelligence facets. Imagine that you have been reading through job advertisements and notice that the descriptions seem to not only reflect knowledge and skill requirements, but also emotional requirements. Ideally, you would like to find a job that is cognitively challenging and taps into your emotional strengths. Read the descriptions of jobs and match them with the appropriate emotional ability required.
