A peptide was isolated and divided into several test tubes. Note, when commas are used to separate amino acids, that simply indicates the aa is present...not that it is bonded to the ones on either side. a. One test tube was treated with typsin. Results were a dipeptide (Arg, Ser); a tripeptide (Tyr, Met, Thr) and a hexapeptide (Trp, Ile, Gly, Asn, Lys, Met). b. A second test tube was treated with chymotrypsin (Note: chymotrypsin cuts the Met and Leu less effectively than its other amino acids. For this test tube, it didn't cut at Met). Results were free Met; a pentapeptide (Ser, Gly, Trp, Asn, Arg) and a pentapeptide (Lys, Ile, Tyr, Met, Thr) A third test tube was treated with elastase (cuts at C side of Gly and Ala). This yielded a tetrapeptide (Gly, Arg, Ser, Asn) c. d. treatment with Cyanogen bromide yielded a septapeptide (Gly, Arg, Ser, Met, Trp, Ile, Asn) Determine the sequence of the original oligopeptide.
